Daily Bulletin

St. Mary Catholic School Bulletin for Friday, March 19, 2010

Monday Morning Message
Week of March 15th through March 19th

Pope Benedict XVI opened the Year of the Priest in June 2009. Our Holy Father said the purpose of this year is "to deepen the commitment of all priests to interior renewal for the sake of a stronger and more incisive witness to the Gospel in today's world."

Please join us in praying for the following priests this week:

Father Charles Roland, retired and living in the Fort Walton Beach area.
Father Dominic Phan Sa, pastor of Saint Mary Parish in Pensacola.
Father Richard Schamber, parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Tallahassee.

Spring Book Fair
Monday through Thursday

Great News! Over 285 titles available at the book fair are "AR." We have a list of all the books for which AR tests are available. You can search by interest level, book level, or title to find a book which meets your student's needs. This is also a great time to help build your student's classroom library by purchasing books off the teacher's wish list for donation to the classroom. Each student will visit the bookfair during their scheduled library time. You are welcome to join them then or stop by on your own Monday through Thursday, between 7:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. See you at the book fair!

Science Night
Thursday, March 18th

Saint Mary School has partnered once again with the Emerald Coast Science Center to have an evening of fun when our families come together and conduct science experiments. All ages are invited and the students go from station to station to conduct hands-on science experiments. Students must be accompanied by a parent. Our Science Night will be on March 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. Please plan to attend.

Stations of the Cross
Friday, March 19th

Students will attend the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent. This week the Stations of the Cross will be held in the church at 1:30 p.m. and will be lead by the first grade students. Everyone is invited to attend.

Step Up For Students Scholarship
Scholarship Renewals

All families who participate in the Step Up for Students Scholarship (formally Children's First) need to go to the website and renew their scholarship now. Please go to the website at http://stepupforstudents.org/ to complete this renewal. Families who are not presently on the scholarship, but meet the criteria, may apply at this time. Please consult the website for the criteria or call the school office for more information.

Spring Fling

Saint Mary School Spring Fling will be held at the Fairgrounds from April 14th through April 18th. Please note that the dates on the 8th Grade Calendar are wrong. Check with your student's teacher for a schedule of where you can help.

White Elephant Tent
Plant Booth

Spring is coming, it really is. Now is a great time to clean out those closets and find those knick-knacks to send in for the Spring Fling White Elephant Tent. You can bring in any items you would like to donate and place them on the steps of the stage in the old auditorium.

We are also in need of plants for the Plant Booth. If you have plants you would like to donate, bring them to the office for the Plant Booth.
